This Privacy Policy sets out the manner in which FitMoney collects and uses personal information about you when you use our website, www.fitmoney.org and any other sites we own or operate (the “FitMoney Website”), FitMoney financial literacy curriculum products, FinanciallyFit Certificate courses, the FitMoney $upersquad program, and any other FitMoney products, platforms, services and other contexts in which you are presented with this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”). Please read this policy carefully before using the FitMoney Website and the Services.

How Does FitMoney Collect and Use Personal Information?

“Personal Information” refers to information that identifies or relates to you, directly or indirectly. Depending on your interactions with us, we may collect the following personal information:

 

  • Contact information, such as your name, age and email address. We collect this information when you contact us through the FitMoney website, register for the Services, donate to FitMoney, otherwise communicate with FitMoney (such as by email, at events, or through FitMoney’s social media pages), make a donation, or where the information is provided to us by a third party.

  • Technical information, such as data collected about your interaction with the FitMoney Website or the Services, including cookies and other automated data collection technologies, and IP addresses. We collect this information when you visit and navigate the FitMoney Website or Services.

  • School information, such as school attended, grade level, school email address, and teacher code. We collect this information when you register for and use the Services.

  • To send you information about services and events that may be of interest to you, to administer surveys and assessments, and to otherwise respond to your inquiries.

  • To solicit, receive, and process your donations and/or apply to grants and seek donations from others.

  • To provide, operate, and administer the FitMoney Website and the Services, including for security and fraud prevention.

  • To provide the information to service providers and other third parties as described in the “How Does FitMoney Share Your Personal Information” section below.

  • For other purposes consistent with the context of the collection of your personal information, or as otherwise disclosed to you prior to the use of your personal information.

 

How Does FitMoney Collect and Use Children’s Personal Information?

We may collect the following personal information from children under the age of 13:

  • Contact information, such as the child’s first name and last initial, age, and parent’s email address. We collect this information when a child signs up for the Services.

  • Technical information, such as data collected about a child’s interaction with the FitMoney Website or the Services, including cookies and other automated data collection technologies, and IP addresses. We collect this information when a child uses the FitMoney Website to register for the Services and when a child uses the FitMoney $upersquad platform.

We may use the personal information we collect from children under the age of 13 for the following purposes:

  • To obtain parental consent to the collection of children’s personal information to the extent required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”).

  • To provide, operate, and administer the FitMoney Website and the Services, including for security and fraud prevention.

  • To apply to grants and seek donations from others.

  • For legal compliance and defense purposes.

  • To provide the information to service providers and other third parties as described in the “How Does FitMoney Share Your Personal Information” section below.

  • For other purposes consistent with the context of the collection of children’s personal information, or as otherwise disclosed to you prior to the use of your child’s personal information.

  • To communicate with Parents and Caregivers regarding your account, including providing information about changes to the Terms of Use, updates regarding our platform and education materials, security alerts, communication about your linked Student’s progress or account, or responses to customer support questions.

 

How Does FitMoney Share Your Personal Information?

FitMoney does not sell your personal information to third parties.

 

We may share your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • With our service providers and third parties that we use to administer the FitMoney Website and the Services;

  • With the school or educational organization with which you are associated, for purposes of tracking your program progress and engagement;

  • As required by state or federal law, which can include providing information as required by statute, regulation, subpoena, court order, legal process, government request, or as otherwise required by law; and

  • For a merger, sale, or other asset transfers in connection with a corporate transaction, in which we are acquired by or merge with another company.

 

We may also share aggregated information for purposes of applying for funding and grants.

 

Cookies and Automated Data Collection Technologies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to allow us to facilitate an ongoing internet interaction. A cookie typically contains the name of the domain (internet location) from which the cookie originated, the “lifetime” of the cookie (when it expires), and a randomly generated unique number or other similar identifier. A Cookies may also contain information about your computer, such as user settings, browsing history and activities conducted while using the FitMoney Website and the Services. We use this information to improve the quality of the FitMoney Website and the Services, including for tracking user progress on the Services.

You may also be able to reject mobile device identifiers by activating the appropriate setting on your mobile device. Although you are not required to accept cookies or mobile device identifiers, if you block or reject them, you may not have access to all features available through the FitMoney Website or the Services.

 

We use automated technologies and applications, such as Google Analytics, to evaluate usage of our Website and Services. These entities may use cookies and other tracking technologies to perform their services. Do-Not-Track Requests

FitMoney does not currently engage in tracking across third party websites to provide targeted advertising.  Accordingly, we do not respond to browser Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals.

 

Parents’ Rights under COPPA

If you are a parent who has consented to FitMoney’s collection of personal information from your child, you may have the following rights:

  • To withdraw consent for our use of your information or your child’s information

  • To request that we delete your child’s information.

How Is Your Personal Information Protected?

FitMoney takes the security of your personal information seriously. We implement safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet and mobile platforms is not completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted through the FitMoney Website or the Services.

 

How Long Will FitMoney Keep Your Personal Information?

FitMoney keeps your personal information as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. In certain circumstances, we also maintain personal information in order to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, and to defend potential claims against FitMoney.

 

When we collect personal information to verify parental consent, it is deleted if FitMoney does not receive consent from the parent within 7 days.

 

Links to Other Websites

The FitMoney Website may contain links to other websites not controlled or legally affiliated with FitMoney. FitMoney is not responsible for the privacy practices employed by other sites, and the privacy practices employed by such sites may not be the same as FitMoney’s privacy practices. As with the FitMoney Website, you should become familiar with any external party’s privacy policy before visiting and/or providing any personal information through any such site.

 

Changes to The FitMoney Privacy Policy

We may need to update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our privacy practices or in the law. If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post any revised version of the Privacy Policy on this webpage and change the “Last Updated” date above. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will endeavor to notify you before such changes take effect.
